How to get started with Fynex: from sign-up to your first split
How to get started with Fynex: sign up, describe your business, open the sandbox, then add a payee, set a commission rule and run a test payment.
To get started with Fynex, create an account at dashboard.fynex.ai, confirm your email, and answer three short questions: who you are, what your business is, and which tools you use. Then open the sandbox and complete four setup tasks: add a payee, set a commission rule, issue an invoice and run a test payment.
This guide walks through every screen in order, what each one asks for, and why. It is for founders, finance leads and operators trying Fynex for the first time. If you are still deciding what Fynex is for, start with the product overview. Fynex is agentic finance: finance operations run by AI, so you run the business, not the books.
How to get started with Fynex: the steps
The whole path, from an empty inbox to a working split rule, runs through eight steps. The first five take about two minutes. The last three happen in the dashboard’s setup dock, and each can start from a sample.
- Create your account. Go to the Fynex sign-up page. Enter your work email and a password of 12 to 64 characters, with at least one letter, one number and one special character. Accept the terms and select Sign up.
- Verify your email. Fynex sends a six-digit code to the address you used. Enter it on the Verify your email screen. If it doesn’t arrive, Resend code sends a new one.
- Tell Fynex about you. Add your first and last name and pick your role: Founder, CEO, CFO, Finance manager, Operations, or Something else. Fynex tailors the setup to what your role decides.
- Tell Fynex about your business. Enter the business name and the country it’s based in. The country sets your home currency and the local payment rails Fynex routes over.
- Pick the tools you already use. Choose your payment processor (Stripe, PayPal, Square, Adyen), your CRM (Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive) and your accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, FreshBooks). Fynex uses them to pull in payees, customers and existing split arrangements, so you type less later. You can skip this step.
- Verify your business, or open the sandbox. The last sign-up screen offers an identity check with Sumsub, which takes a few minutes. Or select Finish later, open sandbox and go straight to the dashboard.
- Complete the four setup tasks. The dashboard opens with a setup dock: Payee → Commission → Invoice → Test payment. Each task is covered in its own section below.
- Connect your accounts and go live. Once your business is verified, connect your bank and accounting system. Fynex then reconciles every payment back to your books. Going live in the docs lists what changes between sandbox and live.
What happens at sign-up, and why each question is asked
Every question at sign-up feeds the configuration Fynex builds for you. Most operators can’t wire a finance workflow themselves, so Fynex asks for the few facts it needs to ship one already configured.
| Screen | What you enter | What Fynex does with it |
|---|---|---|
| Sign up | Work email, password | Creates your login; the email becomes the account owner |
| Verify your email | Six-digit code | Confirms the inbox before any money settings exist |
| About you | Name, role | Orders the dashboard around what your role decides |
| Your business | Business name, country | Sets home currency, rails and compliance rules |
| Your tools | Payments, CRM, accounting software | Pre-fills payees, customers and split rules from those systems |
| Verify your business | Identity check, or skip | Unlocks live payments; the sandbox works without it |
A Book a call instead link sits beside the onboarding questions, if you would rather be walked through it.
What you see when the dashboard opens
The dashboard opens on Financial overview. Your Fynex account holds USD, GBP and EUR balances, marked Sandbox until you go live. Below them sit your key metrics: total sales, total fees, net revenue, transaction count and margin. Receivables and payables follow.
On the right is the setup dock. It shows “Get started · Task 1 of 4”, and it stays open over every page until the four tasks are done. You can minimise it or select Skip for now. The dock also has a Message Fynex box: ask in plain language, for example “what fee should I take from each payee?”, and the answer uses the task you are on as context.
Task 1: add your first payee
A payee is anyone your business pays out to: a seller, a contractor, a partner or a supplier. When you add one, Fynex sets up a wallet for receiving funds automatically.
- Choose Enter details manually, or Use sample payee to skip ahead in sandbox.
- Fynex shows what it captured before saving: business name, email, role (for example Contractor), tax ID, phone, address, the recipient’s bank country, account number and BIC or routing number.
- Select Confirm. The dock reports what it created: a secure payment account, a real-time earnings view and instant payout capability.
Onboarding payees at volume, with verification, is covered in how to onboard and verify sellers before their first payout. The API route is in the payees guide.
Task 2: set your commission rule
The commission rule decides how every incoming payment is split between you and your payees. It’s the core of split payments on Fynex.
- Fixed platform fee takes one fee from every payee on each transaction. Set it as a percentage, a flat dollar amount, or both. The dock suggests 10% as a starting value.
- Custom per-payee allocation configures each payee separately, for contracts where terms differ.
- Select Save and activate rule. From then on, funds are allocated automatically on every transaction.
A Fynex split rule is a versioned rules object with per-payee terms. You change it from the dashboard, not through a software release. To test the arithmetic on your own numbers first, use the split payment calculator. Developers can see how a split is calculated, previewed and explained in the splits guide.
Task 3: issue your first invoice
The third task sends a real invoice from inside the dock. Fynex pre-fills one; check the details and issue it.
- Fill in Bill to, Recipient email, Amount (in USD by default) and a Line description.
- Select Issue invoice. The document gets a real invoice number, and the payment link goes out by email.
- For line items, taxes or terms, use Open the full invoice editor.
How invoicing fits the rest of the money chain is on the invoicing feature page.
Task 4: run a test payment
The last task pays the invoice in sandbox, so you can watch the rule you set in task 2 split a real transaction. The payment lands, your commission separates from the payee’s share, and both sides show up on the dashboard. The test cards in the docs cover the card scenarios you can try, including declines and 3DS.
After the test payment, the dashboard can play a demo month: 30 days of payments flowing through the rule you just created. It shows what a month of settlement, fees and margin looks like before any real money moves.
