Once a customer **saves their card**, you can charge it again later without them entering details each time — useful for repeat orders and for subscriptions that bill on their own. The customer authorises the card once; after that you can charge the saved card for future payments.

## How it works

- **The first payment** saves the card (with the customer's consent).
- **Later charges** reuse the saved card — no checkout, no re-entry. This is what powers [subscriptions](/docs/accepting-payments/how-do-subscriptions-and-recurring-billing-work/) and [free trials](/docs/accepting-payments/how-do-free-trials-work/) that charge automatically when the trial ends.

## Good to know

- Charging a saved card when the customer isn't present ("off-session") relies on the right live processing setup on your account. If a saved-card charge won't go through, [contact support](/docs/account-and-team/how-do-i-contact-fynex-support/) — this depends on your account's processing configuration.
- A customer can still be asked to re-confirm by their bank (via 3-D Secure) on some charges — that's the bank's call, for security.
