A single payment can be up to **50,000 in the payment's currency** (for example £50,000, $50,000, or €50,000). If you need to collect more than that in one go, take it as more than one payment.

## Collecting more than the limit

- **Split it into stages** — [a deposit now and a balance later](/blog/deposits-and-stage-payments/) is common for larger jobs, and it also reduces the risk of one big charge being flagged for review.
- **Use more than one payment link** — send separate links that add up to the total.
- **Set up a subscription or instalments** — for ongoing or scheduled billing, see [How do subscriptions and recurring billing work?](/docs/accepting-payments/how-do-subscriptions-and-recurring-billing-work/)

A payment over the limit is stopped before it's charged, so you'll know right away rather than after the customer tries to pay.
