A refund shows **pending** while it's being processed. Refunds are handled **after the original payment has settled**, so if you refund soon after the payment came in, the refund waits until settlement is ready before it moves. This is normal and it clears on its own.

## The refund statuses

- **Pending** — processing. It's either waiting for the original payment to settle, or in transit.
- **Succeeded** — sent back to the customer's card.
- **Failed** — it didn't go through; the reason is shown and the funds stay with you.
- **Cancelled** — cancelled before it completed.

## When to look closer

- **After "succeeded"**, the customer may not see it for a few days — that's their bank's timing, not Fynex's. Point them to their card statement.
- **Stuck on pending** far longer than usual? [Contact support](/docs/account-and-team/how-do-i-contact-fynex-support/) with the refund reference and we'll check it.
