Push-to-card

Push-to-card sends money straight to a debit card using the card networks, so a payout lands in seconds instead of waiting on a bank transfer.

Push-to-card is a way of paying someone by sending money directly to their debit card over the card networks (Visa Direct, Mastercard Send), rather than to a bank account. The payout typically arrives in seconds.

How it works

  • You hold the recipient’s card details instead of their bank account.
  • The payout is “pushed” to the card through the network.
  • The money lands almost immediately, any day of the week.

It’s the reverse of a normal card payment: instead of pulling money from a card, you’re pushing money to it.

Why it matters

For marketplace payouts to gig workers, drivers or sellers, speed is the product — people judge a platform by how fast they get paid. Push-to-card removes the wait of a standard transfer, though it isn’t always the cheapest rail, so it’s a trade-off worth routing intelligently.

How Fynex does it

Fynex treats push-to-card as one option among many and routes each payout to the cheapest suitable rail — using instant card payouts where speed matters, and a lower-cost rail where it doesn’t. See what is push-to-card? and payouts.
