Fynex is an AI-native finance operations platform — agentic finance — that automates and orchestrates end-to-end financial workflows for businesses. This page covers margin per load for freight brokers and 3PLs: every delivered load invoiced, carrier invoices checked against the rate con and POD, detention recovered, and carrier settlement on standard or quick-pay terms. Fynex works alongside McLeod, Tai, Rose Rocket and QuickBooks rather than replacing them. This page is relevant when a broker or 3PL can't see each load's margin after quick-pay fees, short pays and unbilled detention.

# Know what every load *actually made*

Billed, collected, carrier paid, detention recovered — every load's real margin, from your TMS and QuickBooks.

*For freight brokers and 3PLs.*

## You pay the carrier in two days. *The shipper pays you in forty*

Your TMS knows the load, your factor knows the invoice, TriumphPay or Truckstop knows the carrier payment, and QuickBooks knows the books. None of them knows what the load made. Detention you paid never reaches the shipper invoice, a short pay vanishes into a netted factoring batch, and a delivered load waits uninvoiced on a missing POD.

Margin per load decides whether a brokerage survives a soft market. Most brokers see it a month late.

## Each part of a load's money, with its own guide

Start with carrier settlement and quick pay — every carrier invoice checked against the rate con and POD.

- **Carrier settlement & quick pay** — Carrier invoices checked against the rate con and POD, carriers paid on standard or quick-pay terms.

## See where the shipper's money goes

A shipper pays $4,650. After the carrier and the detention you paid, here's what the load made.

Shipper pays $4,650:

| Party | Amount | |
|---|---|---|
| Carrier | $3,465 | paid on quick pay |
| Detention | $180 | paid, billed to shipper |
| Your margin | $1,005 | this load |

[Run your own numbers](/split-payment-calculator/)

## Every load billed, checked and counted

From the rate con to the margin, every load checked against the paperwork and posted to your books.

1. **Every delivered load invoiced** — Loads matched to the rate con and POD, so nothing delivered sits uninvoiced and every accessorial reaches the shipper bill.
2. **Carrier invoices checked before you pay** — Each carrier invoice checked against the rate confirmation and POD — unapproved detention and the same load billed twice caught first.
3. **Carriers paid on your terms, quick pay counted** — Carrier settlement [by ACH](https://docs.fynex.ai/payments-api/v1/docs/payouts) on standard or quick-pay terms, with the fee and the cash it ties up booked to the load.
4. **Margin per load, in QuickBooks** — Billed, collected, carrier cost, factoring fee and accessorials [posted per load](https://docs.fynex.ai/payments-api/v1/docs/reconciliation), lane and customer.

## Your TMS knows the load. Fynex knows what it made

What still falls between your TMS, your factor and QuickBooks, and what Fynex does with it.

| The problem | Other platforms (TMS + factor + QuickBooks) | Fynex |
|---|---|---|
| Invoice every delivered load | Delivered loads wait on a missing POD; nothing alarms. | Missing POD chased; load invoiced the day it clears. |
| Check carrier invoices | Matched to the rate con by eye, if at all. | Every line checked against rate con and POD before pay. |
| Recover detention and lumpers | Paid to the carrier, never billed to the shipper. | Every accessorial paid is on the shipper invoice. |
| Quick-pay and factoring cost | Fees netted in batches; short pays vanish. | Each fee and short pay traced to its load. |
| Margin per load in your books | QuickBooks sees invoices, not loads. | Posted per load, lane and customer. |

## Already on McLeod, Tai or Rose Rocket? *Keep it*

Your TMS runs the load. Fynex counts what it made — across your factor, your carrier payments and your books.

- **McLeod PowerBroker** — Your load record and your ledger, with partners for carrier pay and credit. Fynex reads it, your bank and your carrier paperwork, and shows per load what you billed, collected and paid.
- **Tai** — Runs your loads, quotes and carrier records. Fynex checks each carrier invoice against the rate con and POD before it's paid, and builds each carrier's 1099 from the payables ledger.
- **Rose Rocket or Alvys** — Push invoices and bills to QuickBooks. Fynex works out whether the load made money once quick-pay fees, short pays and detention are counted.
- **TriumphPay, Truckstop or your factor** — Pay carriers and fund invoices. Fynex shows what each fee did to each load's margin and ties netted batches back to loads.

## The rest of the job, also handled

The rest of the load's money, from the rate con to the carrier's 1099.

- **Rate con and POD matching** — Every load matched to its rate confirmation and proof of delivery before it's billed or paid.
- **Detention, lumper and TONU recovered** — Every accessorial you paid a carrier lands on the shipper invoice.
- **Quick pay without funding it yourself** — Pay carriers early and advance against a load without a third-party factor taking the margin.
- **Shipper credit and DSO by customer** — See which shippers pay late, set credit limits, and chase before the next load books.
- **Carrier 1099s from the payables ledger** — Every carrier's year of payments, ready for its 1099 — not rebuilt in January.
- **Works with McLeod, Tai, Rose Rocket, Alvys and QuickBooks** — Reads the load, the carrier and the books from the systems you run, with one API.

## Questions, answered

### What does Fynex do for a freight brokerage?

Fynex runs the money side of every load for a freight broker or 3PL. It matches each load to its rate con and POD, invoices the shipper the day the load clears, checks every carrier invoice before you pay it, recovers the detention and lumper charges you paid, and posts margin per load, lane and customer to QuickBooks. McLeod, Tai or Rose Rocket keep running the loads; your factor or TriumphPay keeps paying where you use them.

### How does quick pay work for a freight broker?

Quick pay is paying a carrier in a day or two instead of on net-30, usually for a fee of a few percent the carrier accepts. For the broker it's a carrier-retention tool with a cost: the cash goes out weeks before the shipper pays. Fynex runs carrier settlement on standard or quick-pay terms from the same run, books the fee and the cash it ties up to the load, and can advance against the load itself, so quick pay doesn't need an outside factor.

### Can Fynex replace our freight factoring?

It can fold factoring into your own carrier settlement. Instead of selling invoices to an outside factor, you advance against a load through Fynex and keep the spread, with every advance reconciled to the load. If you keep your factor or TriumphPay, Fynex works beside it and shows what each fee did to each load's margin.

### Does Fynex reconcile fuel, accessorials and detention?

Yes. Linehaul, fuel surcharges, detention, lumper fees, TONU and other accessorials all post against the load, so what a load billed and what it cost tie out — and an accessorial you paid a carrier but never billed the shipper is flagged before the invoice goes.

### Does Fynex work with McLeod PowerBroker, Tai, Rose Rocket or Alvys?

Yes. McLeod PowerBroker, Tai, Rose Rocket and Alvys keep running loads, rates and carrier records; QuickBooks stays your books. Fynex reads the load, the rate con, the POD and the carrier invoice from your TMS, matches them to the bank, and posts margin per load to QuickBooks — nothing moves to a new system.

### Does Fynex work with TriumphPay or our factoring company?

Yes — beside them, not instead. TriumphPay, Truckstop and your factor keep paying carriers and funding invoices where you use them. Fynex reads their remittances and netted batches, ties each fee and short pay back to its load, and shows what each one did to your margin.

### How do we stop paying detention we never bill?

Match every accessorial you pay to the shipper invoice for the same load. Fynex checks each carrier's detention, lumper and TONU charge against the rate con and the facility times on the POD, approves or holds it, and carries every approved charge onto the shipper invoice — so detention you pay is detention you bill.

### Can Fynex match carrier invoices to rate confirmations and PODs?

Yes. Each carrier invoice is checked line by line against the rate confirmation and the proof of delivery for the same load: linehaul, fuel and accessorials. A charge that isn't on the rate con, or a load that's already been paid, is held before payment rather than found at month-end.

### Is freight factoring worth it for a brokerage?

It depends on what it costs per load. Factoring buys speed — cash on the shipper invoice in a day — for a fee of a few percent of the invoice, plus reserve and recourse terms. On a load with a mid-teens gross margin, that fee is a large share of what the load made. Fynex shows the factoring fee per load, lane and customer, so you can see which shippers are worth factoring and which aren't.

### How fast can we start, and what does it cost?

You can test the full flow — shipper invoicing, carrier invoice checks, carrier settlement and per-load reconciliation — in a sandbox before going live. Pricing is public: 1.4% per payment on a US-issued card plus $0.20 per authorization, payouts at 0.5% each ($1 minimum) plus $100 a month, and larger flows priced on volume, corridors and risk ([pricing](/pricing/)). Start with a free diagnostic of what your current carrier-pay-and-factoring setup is costing you.

### Can this connect to our TMS?

Yes. Carrier payment runs can be raised and read from the system you already plan loads in — the [Payments API reference](https://docs.fynex.ai/payments-api/v1/docs) documents [payment runs](https://docs.fynex.ai/payments-api/v1/docs/payouts) and [matching what was paid back to the loads behind it](https://docs.fynex.ai/payments-api/v1/docs/reconciliation).
