Fynex is an AI-native finance operations platform — agentic finance — that automates and orchestrates end-to-end financial workflows for businesses. This page covers margin per load for freight brokers and 3PLs: every delivered load invoiced, carrier invoices checked against the rate con and POD, detention recovered, and carrier settlement on standard or quick-pay terms. Fynex works alongside McLeod, Tai, Rose Rocket and QuickBooks rather than replacing them. This page is relevant when a broker or 3PL can't see each load's margin after quick-pay fees, short pays and unbilled detention.

# Know what every job *actually made*

Invoiced, collected, haulier paid — every job's real margin, from your TMS and Xero.

*For hauliers, forwarders and brokers.*

## You pay the haulier this week. *Your customer pays on its own terms*

Your TMS knows the job, Xero knows the invoice, your bank knows the payment to the subcontracted haulier, and none of them knows what the job made. Waiting time you paid never reaches the customer invoice, a job delivered on Friday waits for its POD before anyone invoices it, and self-billed haulier invoices get rebuilt in a spreadsheet.

Margin per job decides whether a haulage business survives a soft market. Most see it a month late.

## Each part of a job's money, with its own guide

Start with carrier settlement and self-billing — every haulier invoice checked against the POD.

- **Carrier settlement & quick pay** — Haulier invoices checked or self-billed, hauliers paid by Faster Payments against the job.

## See where the customer's money goes

A customer pays £4,650. After the haulier and the waiting time you paid, here's what the job made.

Customer pays £4,650:

| Party | Amount | |
|---|---|---|
| Haulier | £3,465 | paid on agreed rate |
| Waiting time | £180 | paid, billed to customer |
| Your margin | £1,005 | this job |

[Run your own numbers](/uk/split-payment-calculator/)

## Every job billed, checked and counted

From the agreed rate to the margin, every job checked against the paperwork and posted to Xero.

1. **Every delivered job invoiced on POD** — Jobs matched to the POD, so nothing delivered sits uninvoiced and every waiting-time and extra-drop charge reaches the customer invoice.
2. **Haulier invoices checked before you pay** — Each subcontracted haulier's invoice checked against the agreed rate and POD — or self-billed from the job record — so a double-billed job is caught first.
3. **Subcontracted hauliers paid on your terms** — Hauliers [paid by Faster Payments](https://docs.fynex.ai/payments-api/v1/docs/payouts) on the terms you agreed, with self-billed invoices issued and every payment booked to the job.
4. **Margin per job, in Xero** — Invoiced, collected, haulier cost and extras [posted per job](https://docs.fynex.ai/payments-api/v1/docs/reconciliation), route and customer.

## Your TMS knows the job. Fynex knows what it made

What still falls between your TMS, your bank and Xero, and what Fynex does with it.

| The problem | Other platforms (TMS + Xero + a spreadsheet) | Fynex |
|---|---|---|
| Invoice every delivered job | Delivered jobs wait on a missing POD; nothing alarms. | Missing POD chased; job invoiced the day it clears. |
| Check haulier invoices | Matched to the agreed rate by eye, if at all. | Every line checked against the agreed rate and POD, or self-billed. |
| Recover waiting time and extra drops | Paid to the haulier, never billed to the customer. | Every extra you paid is on the customer invoice. |
| Early-payment and invoice-finance cost | Fees netted in batches; short payments vanish. | Each fee and short payment traced to its job. |
| Margin per job in your books | Xero sees invoices, not jobs. | Posted per job, route and customer. |

## Already on Mandata or MyTrucking? *Keep it*

Your TMS runs the job. Fynex counts what it made — across your bank, your haulier payments and Xero.

- **Mandata** — Runs jobs, PODs and invoicing. Fynex matches every payment to its job and bank line, and works out what the job made after the haulier.
- **MyTrucking** — Runs jobs and subcontractor records. Fynex issues self-billed invoices to your hauliers and pays them by Faster Payments against the job.
- **Xero** — Stays your books. Fynex posts every job's revenue, haulier cost and extras to it, nothing re-keyed.
- **Your invoice finance** — Funds your invoices. Fynex shows what each fee did to each job's margin and ties netted payments back to jobs.

## The rest of the job, also handled

The rest of the job's money, from the POD to the self-billed invoice.

- **POD matching** — Every job matched to its proof of delivery before it's invoiced or paid.
- **Waiting time and extras recovered** — Every extra you paid a haulier lands on the customer invoice.
- **Early pay without funding it yourself** — Pay hauliers early and advance against an invoice without handing the margin to an invoice-finance provider.
- **Customer credit and days to pay** — See which customers pay late, set credit limits, and chase before the next job.
- **Self-billing for subcontracted hauliers** — Self-billed invoices issued to each haulier from the job record, under your self-billing agreement.
- **Works with Mandata, MyTrucking and Xero** — Reads the job, the haulier and the books from the systems you run, with one API.

## Questions, answered

### What does Fynex do for a haulier or freight forwarder?

Fynex runs the money side of every job for a haulier, forwarder or broker. It matches each job to its POD, invoices the customer the day the job clears, checks or self-bills every subcontracted haulier's invoice, recovers the waiting time and extras you paid, and posts margin per job, route and customer to Xero. Mandata or MyTrucking keep running the jobs.

### How does early payment work for subcontracted hauliers?

Early payment is paying a haulier in days instead of on your usual terms, sometimes for a small fee. It keeps good hauliers working for you, but the cash goes out weeks before your customer pays. Fynex pays standard and early-payment hauliers from the same run by Faster Payments, books the fee and the cash it ties up to the job, and can advance against the invoice itself.

### Can Fynex replace our invoice finance?

It can fold it into your own payments. Instead of selling invoices to an outside provider, you advance against an invoice through Fynex and keep the spread, with every advance reconciled to the job. If you keep your invoice-finance provider, Fynex works beside it and shows what each fee did to each job's margin.

### Does Fynex reconcile fuel, waiting time and extra drops?

Yes. Haulier cost, fuel, waiting time, extra drops and other extras all post against the job, so what a job invoiced and what it cost tie out — and an extra you paid a haulier but never billed the customer is flagged before the invoice goes.

### Does Fynex work with Mandata or MyTrucking and Xero?

Yes. Mandata or MyTrucking keep running jobs and PODs; Xero stays your books. Fynex reads the job and the POD, self-bills or checks each haulier invoice, pays by Faster Payments and posts margin per job to Xero — nothing moves to a new system.

### Can Fynex self-bill subcontracted hauliers?

Yes. Under a self-billing agreement with each haulier, Fynex issues the self-billed invoice from the job record — agreed rate, waiting time, extras and VAT — pays it by Faster Payments and posts it to Xero, so the haulier never has to invoice you and nothing is billed twice.

### How do we stop paying waiting time we never bill?

Match every extra you pay to the customer invoice for the same job. Fynex checks each haulier's waiting-time and extra-drop charge against the agreed rate and the times on the POD, approves or holds it, and carries every approved charge onto the customer invoice — so waiting time you pay is waiting time you bill.

### Can Fynex match haulier invoices to PODs and agreed rates?

Yes. Each haulier invoice is checked line by line against the agreed rate and the proof of delivery for the same job. A charge that wasn't agreed, or a job that's already been paid, is held before payment rather than found at month-end.

### Is invoice finance worth it for a haulage business?

It depends on what it costs per job. Invoice finance buys speed — cash on the customer invoice in a day or two — for a fee of a few percent, plus any minimum terms. On a job with a thin margin, that fee is a large share of what the job made. Fynex shows the fee per job, route and customer, so you can see which customers are worth financing and which aren't.

### How fast can we start, and what does it cost?

You can test the full flow — customer invoicing, haulier payments, self-billing and per-job reconciliation — in a sandbox before going live. Pricing is public: card payments from 1.4%, payouts at 0.5% each, and larger flows priced on volume, corridors and risk ([pricing](/pricing/)). Start with a free diagnostic of what your current haulier-pay-and-invoice-finance setup is costing you.

### Can this connect to our TMS?

Yes. Haulier payment runs can be raised and read from the system you already plan jobs in — the [Payments API reference](https://docs.fynex.ai/payments-api/v1/docs) documents [payment runs](https://docs.fynex.ai/payments-api/v1/docs/payouts) and [matching what was paid back to the jobs behind it](https://docs.fynex.ai/payments-api/v1/docs/reconciliation).
